The Art Box

The Art Box: Combining beauty and function

I designed a very personalized “Art Box” for my husband and me. My vision was to merge comfort and inviting living areas with an artistic purpose; a space designed for art and family. The focal point: a hand-contoured, organically shaped custom staircase that serves more as a statement-making art installation than access to another floor.

Good design blurs the line between art and architecture

I approach projects as disorganized space in need of balance, order and beautiful materials. I love the challenge of correcting and enhancing architecture before layering in the interior elements and art. The most important part of any project is the planning phase; developing a road map for the project, and a framework for what is possible.

About

Each project is a personal journey for me.

After 35 years in the world of interiors—along with the added experience of owning an art gallery in the 90’s—I’ve arrived at my most authentic, very specialized approach to design. When I think of architecture, I immediately think of art and vice versa. Both share the ability to evoke an emotional response beyond function.
